Round and about Rearsby

Apart from the lovely countryside to be explored around Rearsby, there are some delightful villages, a number of them within walking distance. Here are some pictures of buildings that have caught John Lambert's eye while out on foot with his camera recently.

This is a new page which we hope to develop as time goes by, with more pictures from the villages and fuller information about them. You can find out more about most of the places mentioned here on website www.country-focus.co.uk, a very useful guide to the North Leicestershire area.

If you have any pictures of interesting houses, churches, farms, pubs (as well as views!) why not email them to the site and we will feature them on this page.

One of the many fine houses you will see as you walk through Hoby, which is two miles from Rearsby on the Leicestershire Round. The village is perched on a hill overlooking the Wreake Valley. Great view of the valley from the Blue Bell pub.
Ragdale Church
Ragdale is two miles further walking from Hoby and is best known for its health hydro. From Ragdale you can walk back down to Thrussington (only about a mile from Rearsby) and enjoy some great views, with Leicester looming in the distance.

The Black Horse, Grimston

This private house, also in Grimston, used to be the village school - hence the bell, retained from the original building, above the door.
Grimston is a fair walk from Rearsby, north of Asfordby. If you prefer to go by car, take the B676 off the A46 going north, cross the A6006 and take the next right turn.

St James' Church, Little Dalby

Well worth a look, especially if you like decorative features and gargoyles! The church is on a hill well away from the village. Check out the furniture showroom/tea shop at Hollies Farm on your way up or down. They do great scones and home-made cakes!

Little Dalby is definitely a car ride from Rearsby, just off the A606 Melton/Oakham Road
